Upcoming Ebook!

Be on the lookout for my upcoming ebook!

"Ebooks: Secrets To Getting Ahead"

Let's figure this out together!

Whether it is your first time writing an ebook or not, we all have to start from somewhere.
It may be a rocky ride but if you stay on track, you will not fall off. Every mission we
attempt in life isn't easy.

Once in a while we get writer's block. We get to a point and can't find the end. The writing
stops. Our mind is puzzled. We have lost our motivation to be able to pick up the pen and
paper.

What must we do? Can we find our way again?

Yes, you can!

Try not to be hard on yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back. Reward yourself
sometimes.Take a break but not too long. You can even try writing exercises.
And no matter what, at least find time to write every day for fifteen minutes or
more.

Now, are you ready to write this book? Do you feel confident?

Well, turn on your light bulb. And let's get started!

Anatomy of a Writer: Guest Post by author Sydney Arrison

Writing comes as natural to me as breathing. Someone recently asked me "how long have you been writing?" My reply was, I don't remember a time that I didn't write. When I was a child I began to write. It helped me express all of the sorrow and pain I felt. I remember looking at this catalog filled with toys. I didn't want the Easy Bake oven or the latest Barbie...I wanted a typewriter. I was overjoyed on Christmas to find it sitting under the tree. I would spend hours in my room writing short stories and poems.

I was withdrawn and painfully shy, but somehow managed to find my voice when I wrote. Writing allowed me to travel to places I've never been, to see things I've never seen. To feel safe, protected and loved. I remember writing my first poem in third grade.

My teacher wanted me to read it in front of the class. Knowing I was too shy to do so, she decided to read it for me. It was entitled "Spring is like".

Spring is like a new born baby.
Spring is like a very pretty lady.
Spring is like the birds and the bees.
Spring is like the flowers and the trees.
In all that in one makes spring.

Weird how I STILL remember that. I know if I can imagine it, I can write it.

Social Media and Indie Author

All authors know that social media is important. The fact is practically drilled into our heads. I've heard that you need to have a profile with Facebook,Twitter, Goodreads, Amazon Author Central, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapfish,Google+, Blogger, Wordpress and the list goes on. Some authors thrive while exploring the latest and greatest sites. Others run in the other direction when contemplating their online platform. So what is an Indie Author to do?

Here is a list of 4 tips to focus your attention.

1. Focus on just one or two social media outlets. I'm not saying don't participate in other ones, but to focus on quality not quantity. Instead of spreading yourself too thin across multiple platforms, spend quality time on just a few.

2. Make meaningful connections. Never use social media outlets to be an incessant commercial. Don't spam people or constantly talk about the book you have for sale. Comment on what other people are talking about. Contribute if you can and make friends. BUT you can provide a link back to your preferred social media outlet so that when someone likes what you have to say, they have a means of learning more about you.

3. Multitask. Even though your focus should be on your preferred social media outlet, you should still have a presence on many more. Simplify things by planning a post ahead of time, or using the same post on multiple platforms. I like using Hootsuite.com because you can schedule the day, time and place you want a post to be.

4. Set a timer. I could literally spend the entire day on Goodreads and a handful of my favorite blogs. Although, I would have lots of fun, it wouldn't be the most productive way to use my time when I have a new book scheduled to release this spring. So set a time to spend on  your preferred social media sites and stick with it to make the most of your time.

Hopefully, with these tips you can have a sturdier online platform and make the most of your time. For more tips on social media for an Indie author check out my book, How To Self-Publish: A Do It Yourself Approach, available on Amazon, or my website which is full of resources for Indie Authors, wordswithletidelmar.blogspot.com.

Spotlight Interview With Author Sydney Arrison

Today, we have author Sydney Arrison with us for a interview. Thanks for joining us Sydney with the Spotlight Interview. Please introduce yourself and your book to help our readers get to know you.

Sydney Arrison began writing at a very early age. While a freshman in college her English professor encouraged her to pursue writing as a career. She was a reporter for the independent press and is currently working on her third novel. Sydney resides in New York with her husband and two children.

What inspired the author to write books?

I was painfully shy as a kid, writing helped me find my voice. I knew after watching "To Kill A Mockingbird, that I would be a lawyer or an author."

What was the hardest part to write the books in?

It was difficult to keep my focus while writing My Heart In Seoul. My best friend was terminally ill. She passed a day after I finished the final draft of the book.

Do you outline?

No, I never outline.

What is your writing routine?

I love to write early in the morning or late at night.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I really enjoy reading, biking, hiking and spending time with my family.

Thank you Sydney for taking the time to do the Spotlight Interview with us. We wish you the best of luck and success in everything you do.
